Who is Airfix?

What are Airfix Model Kits?
Airfix model kits come in many small pieces - the number of pieces will vary from kit to kit. Some models are much larger than others and require more parts to build. Using the components that are inside the box, you will create the model yourself.

The parts come attached to a slim plastic frame, and they twist out or can be clipped out with nail scissors.

All of the pieces will slot together to create the model. Once the model is built, you can take some time to paint it so that it looks like the model on the box. However, you do have some artistic freedom here if you want to create something different.

Are Airfix models hard to build?
Your first Airfix model kit might pose a challenge, but it won’t be long before you are searching for the most difficult one you can find. What makes Airfix models great is that you have a wide range to choose from, and they come in a range of difficulties too.

The skill level is 1-4, 1 being great for beginners and don’t need to be glued or painted. Number 2 on the Airfix scale comes in around 30 parts and needs to be glued and painted. When you start looking for a challenge, level 3 Airfix has up to 100 parts and needs to be glued and painted. When you have more experience or a lot of patience, level 4 offers over 150 pieces and will require both glueing and painting.
